To continue our growth, we are seeking a Computer Science & Systems Specialist to lead software development, system integration, and operational improvements within our business.

Position Summary 

This role centers on developing, customizing, and maintaining our NCR Counterpoint retail software, with additional responsibility for ecommerce platform management, data management, and process optimization. The position requires both technical expertise and business-oriented problem solving.

The successful candidate will be a hands-on technical lead, able to work independently, coordinate with third-party providers, and in time, assume oversight of inventory-related functions to ensure efficiency and accuracy across the organization. 

Key Responsibilities 

NCR Counterpoint Customization & Reporting:

      • Develop, customize, and maintain workflows, reports, and data exports.
      • Build and manage API integrations with Excel for live reporting and analysis.
      • Customize and oversee forms, labels, and tag printing processes.

Ecommerce Implementation & Management:

      • Lead the setup, integration, and ongoing management of the company’s ecommerce store.
      • Collaborate with third-party software providers for customizations, troubleshooting, and feature enhancements.
      • Ensure smooth synchronization of products, pricing, and inventory between ecommerce and in-store systems.

Database & Data Management:

      • Design and maintain product taxonomy for clear categorization and consistent naming conventions.
      • Oversee ongoing data cleanup, including duplicate record removal, vendor consolidation, and barcode management.
      • Develop data-driven solutions to improve accuracy and efficiency.

Analytics & Business Reporting:

      • Build custom dashboards and Excel-based reports for sales, inventory, shrink, and vendor performance.
      • Provide decision-support tools for management, ensuring data integrity and accessibility.

Operations & Process Oversight:

      • Directly support and collaborate with the receiving and tagging department to streamline workflows and improve efficiency.
      • Oversee semi-annual physical inventory counts, including planning, execution, and reconciliation.
      • Provide general technical support for IT-related issues (hardware, printers, terminals, credit card machines), escalating to external IT vendors when needed.

Leadership & Collaboration:

      • Report directly to the President of the company, working closely with leadership to align technology initiatives with business goals.
      • Handle solo projects with minimal supervision, taking initiative to solve problems and deliver results.
      • Act as a liaison between the company and external software/service providers.

 

Qualifications 

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience).

Experience: 

  • 5+ years in computer science/software development or retail systems roles.
  • Hands-on experience with NCR Counterpoint (preferred).
  • Proven ability in API development and integrations.
  • Experience implementing and managing ecommerce platforms.
  • Familiarity with SQL, Excel automation (VBA, Power Query, or Python), and database management.

 

Skills: 

  • Strong programming foundation (C#, Python, SQL).
  • Retail POS/inventory knowledge a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills.
